Dwight Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, and he is a 21-time nominated, multiple GRAMMY Award winner. He has 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums, with five of those albums topping Billboard’s Country Albums chart, and another 14 landing in the Top 10. Nearly 40 of Yoakam’s singles have charted, with 14 peaking in the Top 10. He received the Artist of the Year award at the 2013 Americana Music Honors & Awards ceremony, the most prestigious award offered by the organization. In September of 2016, Yoakam released his first ever bluegrass album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars… on Sugar Hill Records. Featuring a band of bluegrass luminaries, this album boasts a collection of reinterpreted favorites from his catalogue, as well as a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Produced by nine-time GRAMMY winner Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton), Jon Randall (songwriter of “Whiskey Lullaby”), and Yoakam himself, and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, this album reflects the love for bluegrass music that Yoakam developed at an early age in Kentucky, and that has inspired him for many years thereafter. In 2015, Yoakam released his latest album Second Hand Heart on Warner/Reprise records, the follow up to his critically-acclaimed album 3 Pears. In addition to his musical career, Yoakam is a formidable film and television actor, capable of seamlessly melting into his roles, and impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world’s top thespians over the course of his storied and successful acting career, including Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Matthew McConaughey.
With Special Guest Brennley Brown
“A powerful, memorable performer that is shaping up to be one of the most formidable competitors on the show’s 12th season.” – Rolling Stone
Brennley Brown is a 15 year old, country singer-songwriter. The sheer purity, power, and control of her voice, combined with her emotive performances leave a lasting impression on all who hear her.
She is a current contestant on NBC’s The Voice Season 12 where she quickly caught the attention of the coaches garnering multiple “chair turns” to her blind audition and choosing to join Team Blake Shelton. After a “steal” by Gwen Stefani in the Battle Round with the hit song “Better Man,” Brennley became the longest charting minor in the show’s history with her rendition of “Up To The Mountain” in the Knockout Round. She continues on the path to the live shows – no doubt continuing to stun the North American viewing audience along the way.
“The fact that you have that crying, that angst thing at 14 is amazing.” Luke Bryan
“You gave a Grammy performance and you’re 15, which is just freakish.” Adam Levine
“You are doing what you were born to do, no question about it.” Blake Shelton
Brennley was raised on a ranch where she discovered a love for horses and classic country music at a very young age. First capturing an audience at the tender age of five in her school talent show, she quickly launched into numerous professional opportunities only two years later. The years that followed landed her on many musical theater stages, in leading roles, where she quickly made a name for herself, locally and nationally, garnering her wide attention and an Ovation Award at 11 years old.
Soon, she was looking into an audience of 25,000 people in Arthur Ashe Stadium as a guest soloist during the US Open Tennis Championships in NYC. Impressing them with her dynamic gift, she returned three years in a row.
Brennley has had the privilege of working with top networks such as Nickelodeon, Disney, and DreamWorks. She is the speaking and singing voice of “Lily, the Good Witch” on Disney channel’s, Emmy-award winning, animated series, “Sofia the First.” And is currently working on a new animated DreamWorks project.
With music filling her home from such strong influences as Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, Brennley quickly discovered she wanted to pursue a singing career in country music. With her guitar in hand, and her parents’ support, she has worked diligently to grow as an artist. She started writing songs at age 11 and it was then that she would wait patiently in long “open mic” lines in hopes that anyone would listen to her share her gift.
At 13 years old, she self-produced and organized her own (sold-out) concert to raise funds for a trip to Nashville. There, she was asked to perform live on Big Machine’s Radio show, making her the youngest person to ever receive such an exclusive invitation.
The journey from musical theater to country music was a natural transition because it allowed her to continue to tell real stories that touch people’s hearts. Brennley’s incredible work ethic is outshined only by her deep faith and genuine humility. She knows all good things come from above and thanks the Lord for all the opportunities He’s given her.
Follow along with Brennley’s journey and you will see the product of her hard work, ability to withstand incredible pressure and unwillingness to never give up her dreams.
